1. Roger Nichols and the Small Circle of Friends/Same This is one of the good example of "POP" music released in 1960's. When I visited a second hand record shop in US, the shop master never know him or this album. Original release was from A&M, but now Japanese released CD is called "Complete" with all his released single records such as the best version ever released of "Drifter". (CD Jacket shown on the left picture.) 2. Jeff Lynne/Armchair Theatre Jeff Lynne was a leader of the group called ELO, their hits are 1970's. In late 1980's, when George Harrsion was recorded his song with Jeff, the new group was built up, The Travelling Wilburys, with other famous musician as Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison. This Jeff's album was released during this "Wilbury" time and all the songs are marvellous. 3. Paul Weller/Wild Wood I love him as my god, because of not only his music but also as a mod. His music carrier was started as a member of the band, The Jam, then through Style Counsil, changed to a solo. This his second album as his solo carrier was really impressive to me until now. Later released one changed the jacket design and includes the hit single "Hung Up" as a bonus truck. 4. Nick Lowe/Impossible Bird He is famous as a "Pub Rocker", but his music carrer was long from 1960's to now. His 1996 released this album seems to me very relaxed and enjoy to play the music. I went to his concert after released this album, that was really great. Original released jacket was left shown picture, but cancelled because very difficult to read the letters on Cover. 5. The Zombies/Odessey and Oracle They are thought as one of the British Innovantion groups in 1960's after the beatles, but their music was always good. Especially this their last album, released in 1969, includes all the essence of 1960's pop with beautiful melodies and arranges. 6. The Move/Same Jeff Lynne's ELO was originally built up by Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood. Before they change their band name to ELO, its name was The Move and this was the group of Roy Wood. The Move debut was in 1966 from DERAM label but this album was released in 1967 from Regal Zonophone label, with beautiful "Psychedelic" cover designed by The Fool, which also designed The Beatles' new label "Apple" building outside paint work. Many nice pop songs are included in this album, produced/arranged by Tony Visconti. The Move is now not so major band comparing with other 1960's british rock bands, but I love them. I can also recommend their second album, SHAZAM. 7. Jools Holland/Jools Holland Big Band Rhythm and Blues When I got this album, my interest was only the song called "Horse to the Water", the last recording by George Harrsion. Jools Holland is the famous keyboard player and this album was recorded with his friends. But this "omnibus" album is really great! I don't want to introduce this album with its great guests like Sting, Paul Weller, George Harrision, DR.John, Mark Knoppler,Van Morrison, John Cale, Steve Winwood, Jamiroquai, Eric Clapton....ohh...it's like a pop music history, but all the songs are really great.
